I am very excited to share with you the Butterfly Garden theme party from Wavey’s 2nd Birthday. I always wanted to design a butterfly party because butterflies are so fun and pretty (and I LOVE pretty things!). There’s something magical about those feather light wings and, they make me smile! I think it is the perfect theme for a little girl’s party.
The first item on the party planning agenda was to pick the color scheme. Different shades of pink, blue and purple were chosen because the colors look great together and the butterflies are beautiful in those shades. I purchased A LOT of butterflies (from Century Novelty) in all three colors in different sizes. The butterflies were then used throughout the party. They were added to flower arrangements, used on bird cages and applied to the backdrop. For the backdrop, the idea was to create a scene of butterflies flying in the sky especially with the window in the back. I hung a shear panel and used pins to secure the butterflies.
I splurged on the flowers and bought a lot of fresh hydrangeas, which is one of my favorite flowers. It also worked well with the color-scheme. I placed the flowers in vases and also inside the bird cages that was part of the garden decor. I also bought dark purple carnations for a slight contrast. For the dessert and cake tables, I made the skirt using a pink ruffled drape panel that I purchased from Bed Bath & Beyond. There was some cutting and sewing involved but it was quite easy to do.
One of my favorite items from the party was the butterfly wings and tutu skirts that also doubled as party favors. The party girls were very excited to be butterflies for the day!
Here are a few more pictures from the party!
